MTCC Tops $10 Billion in Economic Impact

Annual results demonstrate the MTCC’s continued contribution to economic growth, jobs, and Toronto and Ontario’s tourism economy.

Toronto, ON – The Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) announced its 2025/26 year end results today, reporting more than $510 million in economic impact generated during the fiscal year and surpassing $10 billion in total economic impact since opening in 1984. The results reflect the MTCC’s continued contribution to jobs, tourism, and economic activity across Toronto and Ontario.

During fiscal 2025/26, the MTCC welcomed more than one million visitors, sustained approximately 5,556 jobs, and generated more than $131 million in tax revenue for all levels of government.

Recognized for delivering exceptional customer service, the MTCC achieved a 99% overall customer satisfaction rating in 2025/26. Several events also achieved record attendance, including the Canadian International AutoShow, which set an all-time attendance record of over 374,000 in February 2026. The Canadian Mechanical & Plumbing Exposition (CMPX) and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention also welcomed a record number of participants.

As part of its commitment to buying Ontario first and showcasing the province to the world, the MTCC purchased more than $4 million in products from local Ontario growers, food suppliers and producers of Ontario wine and craft beer. Additionally, the MTCC made a positive impact in the local community by donating more than 25,000 meals to local food rescue organizations, including student nutrition programs.

Conventions and events play an important role in shaping new ideas, enhancing collaboration, and connecting people and industries from around the world. In the coming fiscal year, the MTCC expects to host 17 major conventions, including six international events, bringing together leading researchers, industry experts, and decision-makers whose work strengthens Toronto’s knowledge economy. The MTCC will also continue to host major returning events that draw significant attendance and generate economic activity, including Fan Expo Canada.

“For more than 40 years, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre has been a pillar for Ontario’s tourism sector and a cornerstone of Toronto’s global profile,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Surpassing $10 billion in economic impact is a remarkable milestone that reflects the Centre’s success in attracting major events, supporting good jobs and generating tourism spending that benefits businesses and communities across the province.”
