OUR HISTORY

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is a Crown Corporation of the Province of Ontario. Our North Building was opened for business on October 2, 1984, by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The South Building was opened 13 years later, with the official opening by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, on June 29, 1997.

OUR ECONOMIC IMPACT

The creation of the MTCC was a joint effort between the Federal Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario and the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, with the intent of increasing tourism revenue to the City and Province. In a typical year, we generate about half a billion in economic impact for Toronto and the region, and create thousands of jobs in our city. This impact is generated when conference, trade and public show attendees, who reside outside of Toronto, spend on dining, hotel nights, shopping, transportation and more in the city.

The MTCC has won many awards throughout the years, here are a few:

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM (2020)

By the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO)

THE BOMA OUTSTANDING BUILDING OF THE YEAR AWARD (TOBY)

By the Public Assembly (2017)

THE BOMA CERTIFICATE OF BUILDING EXCELLENCE (2017)

By the Public Assembly (2017)

"MTCC is a great venue to work with. All staff members were extremely helpful and accommodating."
