American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry returns north to Toronto for 2016 scientific session

Toronto, ON: Thirty years after they first held their annual session in Toronto, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is returning to the city for the industry’s premier educational event. More than 1,200 dental professionals from around the world will meet at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), and the event is expected to boost the local economy with an estimated $3.4 million in hospitality spending. From April 27-30, delegates will enjoy three days of workshops, education, and networking amid the city’s backdrop of exciting, leading-edge breakthroughs.

“Toronto has been making a name for itself as a hotbed for innovation, and with its highly educated and diverse population, this city couldn’t be a more ideal destination for our conference,” said AACD Executive Director Barb Kachelski. This year, innovation served as the underlying foundation in planning the event, as AACD’s Professional Education Committee worked to develop a completely re-imagined structure for delivering education to delegates.

Dubbed the AACD Triple Play, this year’s meeting has been organized to embrace three daily themes (design, implementation, and realization), so that each day will build upon the knowledge gained the previous day, allowing delegates to engage in a sequential and cumulative experience. Complementing the event’s workshops, lectures, and general sessions is a 100,000 sq ft trade show floor, where delegates will have the opportunity to network with top dental professionals and learn about the latest industry products and services.

AACD is encouraging members to expand this year’s meeting experience outside the convention centre and explore the world renowned sites of Toronto and surrounding areas such as the Niagara region. “Between the world class education, industry related shopping and networking in the exhibit hall, and AACD social events, we wish delegates to extend their visit to ensure plenty of time to explore this buzzing metropolis,” added Kachelski.

“It was 1986 when Toronto first hosted AACD’s annual scientific session, and much has changed in this city since then. We are thrilled to welcome them back,” said Barry Smith, President and CEO of MTCC. “I’m confident Toronto will offer delegates an all-around highly memorable experience, one that’s both rich in education as well as culture and excitement, and it is my hope that we leave such a lasting impression that they will plan to visit us again in the coming years.”
