Metro Toronto Convention Centre welcomes back CFPC’s Family Medicine Forum

Toronto, ON: For the seventh time in almost 40 years, the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States is returning to Toronto for their annual convention. From Aug. 6 – 9, the 2015 American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention will draw approximately 9,000 people to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) for four days of education and networking opportunities, and the event is expected to boost the local economy with an estimated $25.6 million in hospitality spending.

MTCC’s expansive meeting and exhibit space, as well as its convenient location in the core of the city, made Toronto the ideal choice in APA’s selection of a host city for its 2015 convention. More than 1,000 sessions are on the agenda, and the exhibit hall will feature a comprehensive selection of psychological products and services, as well as new tools, resources, and the latest in published works. In addition to an exciting and robust educational component to the convention, attendees are enthusiastically anticipating their return to Toronto. The city has previously hosted APA’s Annual Convention on six occasions: 1978, 1984, 1993, 1996, 2003, and 2009.

“Toronto has always been a popular city with our attendees,” said Candy Won, Director of Conventions and Meetings of APA. “They like the comfortable cooler climate, the friendly people, and the clean and safe city streets in addition to the wide array of restaurants and other attractions.”

“We’re delighted to welcome APA back to Toronto for a seventh time for their Annual Convention,” said Barry Smith, President and CEO of MTCC. “Our vibrant metropolis has had the pleasure of hosting this event multiple times before, and the return of APA is a testament to our city’s appeal as a top tier destination that draws tourists back again and again.”
