Toronto, ON: The oldest radiology association in the United States is being welcomed into Canada once again as the Annual Meeting of the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) is set to begin in Toronto. From April 19-24, approximately 2,500 members will attend courses, presentations, forums, and exhibits, which will all be housed inside the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC). The city-wide event is expected to bring an estimated $7 million into the economy through local spending.

Following the success of its 2006 and 2012 annual meetings in Vancouver, the society sought out a host city in Eastern Canada for its 2015 event. Impressed with the square footage, open, versatile meeting spaces, and location within the heart of downtown, Toronto’s MTCC stood out as the exciting front-runner. 

Since its founding in 1900, ARRS has provided a forum for the discovery and discussion on radiology, with an overall goal of the advancement of medicine.

“Our mission is to improve health through a community committed to advancing knowledge and skills in radiology,” said Linda Thomas, Senior Director of Member, Meeting, and Marketing Services. “We hope our annual meeting attendees will engage in a professional dialogue that enhances their skills and advances their knowledge.”

The first annual meeting in 1900 was held in Buffalo, New York, and since then ARRS has built a membership close to 21,000 radiology professionals from around the world. Nearly 1,000 of those members are Canadian, with approximately 150 living specifically in the city of Toronto.

Whether members attend in person or virtually, the highly valued annual meeting allows delegates the opportunity to gain practice-based knowledge that will ultimately enhance performance and patient care.
More than 500 electronic exhibits will be on display at the MTCC, and top industry professionals will be on hand to share their expertise and take part in lively discussion and debate on medical imaging.
